Honeymoon Sicily Villa in Palermo, Tanguera: "...The intimacy of Villa Tanguera, with striking views of wonderful Monte Pellegrino - St Rosalia’s mountain (Palermo’s Patron Saint), facilitates concentration and creativity.
The villa owner set up two amazing hi-fi systems to listen to music, similar to those of a recording studio. Villa Tanguera is a place I strongly recommend to anyone looking for silence and privacy..."

Overview

The intimacy of the villa is emphasised by its position, in the sea side borough of Partanna Mondello, distant from the noises of the city and close to the Mediterranean Sea. Peace and freedom, that’s what you are looking for. The location of the villa is happily connected to whatever you need: five minutes away from Supermarkets and the beautiful Mondello Beach. You are ten minutes away from Palermo’s town centre and for those who’d like a full immersion in the amenities of the little borough of Partanna, a riding school is there for you.

Property details

As you make your way down to the villa, light is what hits you, a perfect balance of moderate and vigorous intensity that only in Sicily you can experience. The sliding doors of the villa create an incredible synergetic communication between the outer spaces and the inside.
Every sliding door of the multilevel villa coincides with an external space. One of these is an heavenly corner with  a sunken bath where you can indulge with a good glass of red wine or a book, or both. By the side of the bath here it is, a piece of garden entirely covered with volcanic sand from the Etna.
As we step inside, modernity and essentiality, the two core themes of this “Oz Wizard” style villa welcome us. Colours are the main characters, white and brown (of the walls), grey and red (of the sofas) and a warm wooden floor.
In front of me a fireplace coyly confesses its hot sins to an LCD ultramodern wall TV. Part of this massive ground floor living room is a veranda, with a beautiful transparent table and a red sofa bed coexisting with the ivory colours of the chairs. The villa is supplied with air conditioning system and heated floor. A bar area is the antechamber of the kitchen, a real pearl in a shell of amenities. Its coherent modern style crashes against the gorgeous yellow flowery garments of the blue ceramic floor. A slate made of bathroom with shower completes the ground floor.
Upstairs, the master bedroom with an unexpected surprise: a huge Jacuzzi with chromatic lights right in front of the main door. It stands alone, the queen of the bedroom. In front of the bed, a wall video projector. The rest of the bathroom, except from the toilet, is there, “en plain air”, hi-tech style of the best kind like the hi-fi and the comfortable walk-in closet.

Area details

The estate is located in the borough of Partanna Mondello, Palermo. The tiny Mondello harbour is home of many locals who, early in the morning, wait for the fishers to come back from the sea with the best fish. Palermo welcomes you with its wonderful treasures, its baroque style and gorgeous Arabic architecture. Everything in Sicily has the perfume of the Orient, specially Palermo. Don’t miss the gorgeous Monreale Byzantine Cathedral and Cefalù where you can admire the remains of the roman washhouses. A must is Castelbuono, a lovely medieval little village with its castle.

Additional Information

For a very romantic dinner with your partner you can choose our "fine-dining" in villa cook service available on request!
The property owner, sure to please his guests, makes his two bikes available at no additional cost. Enjoy cycling Mondello coast, exploring this beautiful sea village and the area all around.

Reviews from clients staying at Tanguera

  • Stephen & Kerstin Potter - Switzerland | January 2013

    Not the usual time to come to Sicily but it has the great advantage that all of the sites are open and with no people.
    We have had a fabulous time in Tanguera. One or two “Palermo” events have happened and Francesco has always been around and solved them immediately.
    The house is beautiful and practical too: we have been working during the week and everything is to hand. We would recommend:
    “Nino's” just around the corner for fresh vegetables;
    the “egg shop” on Partanna Mondello for eggs, olive oil and salads;
    Badalamenti as a high class delicatessen;
    Isola delle femmine for fresh fish from the boats
    “Auchan” on Conca d'Oro commercial centre for a supermarket: better than Carrefour or Conad...
    Thanks, Francesco and soloSicily for a wonderful 2 months!!

  • Pauline Lambert - United States | May 2012

    We had a very nice trip to Sicily. Villa Tanguera was very comfortable and relaxing. The owner was friendly and always available. We highly recommend this property to others! The SoloSicily website is easy to manoeuver and was extremely helpful with directions on how to get to the property and the shopping available in the area.

  • Tony Beale - United Kingdom | April 2012

    We had a fantastic week in Villa Tanguera. It is a beautiful apartment and an ideal place to relax for a few days. Frank (the owner) was an excellent help when required and unseen when not requested. I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting the area.

  • Wendy Bourton - United Kingdom | October 2011

    Thanks for the welcome you gave us and your kindness during our stay in Sicily. We have fallen in love with Sicily and we will definitely visit again.

  • Sean Gilfeather - United Kingdom | September 2011

    The property Tanguera, more than lived up to our expectations – it was simply stunning and a great place to stay for a few days – I would highly recommend it to anybody. However, what really made our time at the house was our host Frank (property owner). He was very kind and accommodating and is certainly a great ambassador for the people of Sicily! I also thought that the info provided by Solo Sicily was great and a lot better than the website we used for the following week. Overall, incredibly pleased by the experience and we had a very memorable holiday.

  • Andrew Tzialli - United Kingdom | September 2011

    We stayed in Tanguera as part of our honeymoon in Siciliy and had a fantastic time. The villa is beautifully equiped and the kindness, generosity and hospitality of the owner, Franchesco, was fantastic. You cannot be disappointed with this place. His willingness to provide advice and assistance wherever needed gave us a wonderful opinion of Sicilian people. We would definately go back

  • Frantisek with family - Slovakia | July 2011

    We want to thank you once again for your hospitality. We spent an amazing week in Sicily and it was thanks to your comfortable and beautiful villa as well. Your villa made us feel like home and it was perfect relax for us.

  • Eddie Opoku - United Kingdom | June 2011

    We LOVED Tanguera!!!! Be very very careful. You may spend your entire holiday in Tanguera and never see the beauty of Sicily. Don't know where to start. Enjoy the jacuzzi with dreamy changing colours in the bedroom, the small paddle pool in the terrace or the gadgetry and amazing sound system throughout the villa. Francesco's hospitality is second to none; he will help choose the best fish for your alfresco dining.
